It's spread to the USA?

And here I thought I was leaving that kind of footwear behind...

My host family had me over for a small farewell feast today. I'm feeling a little better about leaving. The Internet has made the distances of the world less threatening, and my host family has insisted that I will be invited to their older daughter's wedding (whenever that might happen), and that I should invite them to mine (likewise). And it's not out of the realm of possibility, global financial crisis and all. All things, good and bad, come to an end.
